Web Work

I was in a math class at ASU for about a week. The professor would talk about the online homework, or “web work” in his curious, idiosyncratic manner probably 5 times every class period. I dropped the class and tested out instead (mostly because it was at 8am). When I told the teacher, he asked: “was it the web work?” ha ha

Tonight and last night I’ve spent probably 8 hours doing web work. Website and blog web work, that is (waaaayyyy better than math!) Notice the new “Favicon” ?? Yeah! It looks like this: favicon and can be found at the top of your browser to the left of the address bar. It’s kind of a pain to put up there, but so much cooler than just the boroing-favicon you see on other web pages. :)

So Parker Planners has a blog now. www.uselifewisely.com oh yeah. Can you believe we have 150 facebook fans? I hope a lot more people become fans so they can always be in touch with our inspirational messages :P

This “social” aspect of business can be pretty confusing sometimes. I guess it’s important, though. Good ‘ole writing a post at 1:30 am.  Later.

Solar Stuff

This post is from the Arizona trip I just took, but it requires special attention because of all the solar fun. There’s a lot of sun there and they take advantage of it. Check out this parking meter thing you can pay with a credit card at, solar powered!!

20 solar ticktNext up is a crazy trash can on campus at ASU that compacts the trash into neat blocks, or something.

20 solar trashThe super sweet solar biz my brother-in-law started and currently owns and operates is called “Secure Source” and this is one of their solar-powered security camera units. They have patent-pending technology that rocks the house and I’m in the process of making a simple informational website for them. Here’s me and Cooper. He’s got a sweet beard.

Ode to Shop

The College of Environmental Design’s Prototyping lab, what I called the “Shop”, is a mystical, magical place where dreams come true. At least in my life. I worked here as a student in the fall of 2003 and the spring of 2004, my first year of college at Arizona State University.

I love this place for the tools, but mostly for the people. Steve Biltz operates it and has for the past 20 years. He even designed the floor layout and planning for the whole thing.

1Shop friendsLeft to rigjt: Kerry a new girl that just started working there, Melissa Button the famous painter and model maker, Mark Fromeir  the harley dude and master craftsman, Ethan Parker, Steve Biltz world famous sculptor of the original PF Chang’s horse and lots of huge amazing public art, Kieth Charvonia who used to design motorcycles for Yamaha and was recently featured in Hot Rod magazine for his Krazy Kaiser, also ID grad from ASU.

Az cool archArizona is known for its really cool architecture. One famous guy from here is Frank Lloyd Wright who designed the house called “waterfall” that everyone has heard of and lots more. Here is a brand new building dedicated to art and education near ASU on Tempe town lake. This thing looked good enough for a pic. Like the water.

The sun was setting and I was without a good place to take a pic. I knocked on the door of some college kids on the 11th floor of a complex and snapped this one.
